You can ask us to delete your Moonbase account at any time. This page explains how, and exactly what happens when you do.
How to request deletion
In the app. Open the menu and choose Delete account. The app tells you what is removed and what remains, and confirms the date by which it will be done.
By email. Send an email to info@play-moonbase.co.za with the subject "Delete my account", from the email address you use to sign in to Moonbase.
If you can no longer send email from that address, write from any address and include your player handle so we can identify the account.
You do not need to sign in to make the request by email.
What happens next
We complete the deletion within 30 days. A request made by email is confirmed by email; a request made in the app is confirmed on screen.
Once it is done, you will no longer be able to sign in, and your progress cannot be recovered. You are free to create a new account afterwards.
Changing your mind
Nothing is removed until the deletion is completed, so you can call it off at any point before then. Open the menu, choose Delete account, and press Cancel account deletion. Your account carries on exactly as it was.
If you asked by email, reply to our confirmation and say you would like to keep your account.
What is deleted
- Your email address
- Your Google sign-in identifier
- Your account record, and the link between you and your player handle
- The game you were last playing
After this we hold nothing that identifies you.
What remains, without your name attached
Moonbase is a game played against other people, and some of what you did is part of their game as well as yours. Removing it outright would damage other players' worlds, so instead we remove your identity from it.
Your moonbases and units stay standing in any game still running, shown under an anonymous name. Other players fought battles against them and hold reports of those battles; deleting them would corrupt games that are still being played. The record of which games those are stays with them, under the same anonymous name and attached to nothing that identifies you.
Messages you sent remain visible to the people you sent them to, shown from an anonymous sender. We do not remove one side of somebody else's conversation.
Records of in-game currency — what was bought and spent — are kept with your identity removed. We are required to retain financial records, and these are kept in a form that can no longer be traced back to you.
None of this can be linked back to you once your account is deleted.
